A Lullaby for Little Dreamers
Imagine waddling
like a blue billed duck
Balancing buoyancy
on two webbed feet
Imagine marching
like a big bold magpie
Head cocked, listening
For my next juicy feed
Imagine my leaves
dancing in the breeze
I’m a gum tree swaying
in the warm summer air
Imagine all the worlds smells
to a bustling little ant
Out on the hunt
for a dinner to share
Imagine the view
from high up in the blue
I’m a cocky - soaring,
tumbling way up there
Imagine my gills
as I weave, dash and mill
I’m a fish
swimming for my next meal
Imagine the river
feeding all of this life
On her wandering way out to sea
Imagine the girl,
come to say good night
Before bedtime,
curled up..
and asleep
