Artists Statement

Inspired by nature at a micro level, BOHIE uses the natural world as a metaphor for her personal journey. While the central theme in her work is connection, both of the physical and spiritual kind, her newest works question a sense of cultural responsibility presented as if seen through the eyes of an empathetic child with a curious nature. These environment focused artworks inspire empathy in the viewer, asking them to slow down and be present with moments of magic in our rapidly reduced natural spaces, and to open themselves up to being changed by connections with the natural world and with each other.

Her work has shown in galleries, mural painting festivals, on brand collaborations, artist run spaces and award shows around Australia as well as internationally in solo and group exhibitions in the USA, Canada, and the UK. She was featured in Ambush Gallery’s nationwide female street art showcase “HERE I AM: ART BY GREAT WOMEN”, chosen as one of two national artists who’s work was projected across two city blocks for Enlighten Festival, Canberra (2021), shortlisted for the Goulburn Regional Art Prize for her illustration “Seeking Refuge” (2020), and the only Australian selected for “Biophelia” Ecology for Artists Science Research Residency based in Quebec, Canada, (2020).
