On the Power of Grassroots Activism with PuertoSOS in Oaxaca, Mexico

In this blog post, I dive into a conversation with two members of PuertoSOS, a grassroots collective based in Puerto Escondido, Mexico, dedicated to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development. PuertoSOS is focused on addressing the ecological and social challenges resulting from rapid urbanisation and increased tourism. In this interview, the activists share their journey, the obstacles they face, and their vision for the future of Puerto Escondido, including the preservation of the iconic Mexican Pipeline surf break. I connected with them during my travels in Mexico in early 2023 after discovering their story in a local zine distributed throughout the town.
